Rachel Roy gave her very first Twitter press conference earlier today and yours truly was able to ask the beautiful and glowing Ms. Roy how she stays confident during tough times. She answered!

See, the second from last response (right below my buddy reLYME)? That's her answer to my question. She keeps it all positive and smiley and stuff during tough times. Well, her beautiful clothing and her inspiring success story always make me smile too. Rachel Roy is a great example of a hard working woman who keeps real women in mind when she designs. And she glows. I like her.

Rachel Roy is a unique presence in the fashion industry. She's a successful female designer who started her fashion career behind the counters at '90s mall staple Contempo Casuals while still in high school in order to help her family pay the rent. Her father, a first generation immigrant from India, charged her room and board and thus instilled his gorgeous daughter with a work ethic that has always been her signature, second only to her smart design sense. Roy's style is singular and chic in a versatile way. Her pieces alone are practical and wearable for real women, but her sense of styling presents them as cool covetables for the young among her loyal fanbase. This season's collection is well structured, clean, and interesting in an easy way. The looks exude strong sexiness, aggressive femininity, and sophisticated cool.

Roy's multi-culti models rock the heck out of their black lips and bobs. These are have-it-your-way clothes. Stand and demand.

Fashionistas for Obama!

I was going to settle for a Barack Obama button, but while surfing Style.com, I happened upon a few more fashionable ways to sport my support for hope. The recently launched Runway to Change is proof that Obama is my man and that the force of fashion is with him. Marc Jacobs, Issac Mizrahi, Rachel Roy, Maria Cornejo, and many more have designed Obama campaign gear worth wearing. Get out your check books people! It may cost a chunk of change, but the return on your investment may just be real change. Put your money where your hope is.

Out of Africa...and Into My Closet

The African-inspired prints trend has been bubbling up for a while now. It hasn't taken a full toe hold in the common wardrobe yet, but I'm hoping this will be its season. I'm a fan of any trend that makes me feel like I've traveled. Rachel Roy (not to be confused with "yum-o" 30-minute meal maker Rachel Ray) presented this print, which looks like it was joyously made with a giant, white paint dipped Q-Tip. Get those pants a passport and fly 'em over to me.
