Pop Goes The Yum.

I'm officially obsessed with People's Pops, and while you should avoid wearing them, you should definitely eat them.

Look how pretty.

Made with fresh, local ingredients by a few skilled freezer chefs based in Brooklyn, the ice pops are simply delish. Flavors on weekly rotation are simple combinations of quality ingredients that serve as each other's perfect compliment: Blueberries and Cream, Rhubarb Mint, Plum Sour Cherry, Pear Jasmine (a personal fave); they will all dance on your tongue. Refreshing, dazzling, and so tasty, there is nothing better for a hot summer day, or a rainy day, or a blah morning, or...whenever.

That's what's in the pops. Mmmm.

I admitted my obsession to the lovely fedora-ed pop seller behind the counter (who I'm sure politely pretended not to recognize me) at the Chelsea Market bar, and he said, "Well it could be worse, at least it's not drugs." Believe me buddy, if I could mainline those pops, I would. My ultimate justification for my new near-daily cold treat is that it licks the fro-yo competition by miles. At least I can enjoy these with the knowledge that they are full of organic fruit and not polysyllabic isolated starch filler things. My previous Tasti-D-Lite habit (I know, it's inexcusably bad) had me worried for my unborn children. I'm not worried anymore, but let's just say I wouldn't be surprised if my first baby popped out on a stick.

Visit the People's Pops website or take a trip to the Chelsea Market to get your daily yum. See ya there.

A Legend In His Own Time.

Excuse me, do you have any pretty glowsticks you can wave in my face for a while? I'm totally high on fashion ecstasy. YouTube is my pusher and my tab is Galliano flavored, a vintage Spring 1995. Here is his amazing Legends catwalk show, part 1:

Tell me that doesn't make you ridiculously happy, and I'll tell you it does. You want more don't you? Here's another hit. Part 2:

Just so we're clear, the only ecstasy I condone is Galliano-related. It will add wrinkles, not holes.

Drooling.

My screen has kiss marks all over it. I just made out with each of Camilla Staerk's 14 looks for fall individually. I paid special attention to Shinji Nakaba's metal accessories. The clothes are strong, yet angelically handsome, dark yet poetic. Just the way I like them. And those accessories? Hot.

I'm in love. I'm in covety, covety love. The details are gorgeous. The masculine vibe with the softness of the details, the draping. The looks have the essence of the Mapplethorpe photos that inspired Staerk. I'm crushing. And check out the rest of Shinji Nakaba's work on his site. Double lovin' trouble.

Snog Me, It's Valentine's Day.

Happy Valentine's Day! Forget chocolate, candy hearts, roses, and red things; all most of us want on V-Day is a little lovin'. For some inspiration, I draw your attention to sometimes fashion photographer Rankin's tome dedicated to the delicate/passionate/sticky/sweet/smoochy/tonsily art of snogging.

For his book Snog Rankin invited couples to kiss away while he snapped away and produced some super shots of the resulting face time. They may be a little close up for some of you, but I think they are great odes to one of life's most fun activities. So go for it, grab someone and reenact a shot or two. It'll make your V-Day snog-tastic.

See more of Rankin's work here and here.

Wake and Bake

Freshly baked, warm bread straight from the oven is one of those pleasures that can't be overstated. Schmeared with some softened, salted butter? Yes, please! In an effort to be resourceful and thrifty my friend Jenny and I decided to teach ourselves the basics of bread making. Yesterday we got up extra early and got our bake on. We did some recipe testing and baked four different batches of bread. My arms are actually sore from all of the kneading that was required, but we now have eight delicious loaves of bread between us for less than we would have spent on one and a half at the store. We also have a new title to put on our CV's: Domestic Divas.

All of the kitchen time (and the fifth batch of bread we could have baked straight off of my flour/water/dough dirtied jeans) made me crave a sweet little apron to rock the next time we get all domestic. I found a great site called Ballyhoo Vintage that has the cutest little aprons at perfect prices for budgetistas.

Ok, so getting messy in pretty, little, lacy, cute vintage fabrics might not be so practical, but there's enough practicality in bread making. Aprons add a little pretty to the nitty gritty!
