Are You Ready For Paris?

You have a little over 36 hours until the Paris portion of fashion month begins. I suggest you brush up in the following ways:

1) Watch this video of Nicholas Kirkwood's Autumn/Winter 2009 line of shoes and then see how many pairs you see on actual editors/models/insiders at the shows. I bet you there's a near one-for-one match!



Did that make you feel dirty? Inexplicably in need of something delightfully wholesome? Move on to two quick...

2) Here's a Warhol-esque screen test featuring Kaiser Karl. Who's more Paris than Karl?



Wait, that didn't make you feel better did it? Maybe you feel worse. Um, here, move on to #3.

3) Watch Anthony Bourdain wait for that most Parisienne staple of life, a baguette freshly made in a boulangerie:



Wait, this is fashion week...nobody eats. Sorry! No bread for you!

4) Ok, why don't you go shopping at Paris's tre magnifique boutique Colette.



I could listen to that man talk for hours. I especially loved how he said "hoodie" at the 4:57 mark. Ooooodies.

5) Last, but not for a second least, take a tour of Alice's Paris apartment.



I have no idea who Alice is, but I thoroughly enjoyed that.

There. Do you feel more prepared for Paris fashion week? Me neither, but that was fun!

Dot Dash.

I'm a purist and usually get peeved when the Google search engine deviates from its standard design or typeface, but today's Morse Code birthday celebration format of dots and dashes is quite alright with this coded girl. You love Morse Code too? Well, check this out!
You can create a tee or hoodie with some dots and dashes of your own.

Over on the Primitive State site you get up to 10 characters to express yourself in code. I say put "Single" or "... .. -. --. .-.. ." on the front and geek out with your soulmate when he or she rushes to get your number. Just a suggestion. You can use your ten characters any way you -.. .- -- -. well please. In fact I bet you can say things like ..-. ..- -.-. -.-, ... .... .. -, and maybe even .. / .-.. --- ...- . / -.-- --- ..- and no one would even know the difference, except your soul mate and some pilots.

All Good in This Hoodie

I love art. I love fashion. When I get to wear art, it makes me happy. Los Angeles-born renegade street artist David Choe has illustrated some hoodies and T-shirts for graffitti-based gear store Upper Playground. This one is my favorite:

It's $60, but getting to be a painted billboard for Choe is priceless. He paints walls, makes toys, sculpts things, takes photographs, and stars in documentaries about his instant gratification geared, hell-bent-on-destruction life.

I love when he double fists the spray cans, and when he jumps on top of moving vehicles. Amazing.
