My straight-from-the-heart (not the pocketbook) gift giving strategy this year is to frame photos for my nearest and dearest. It's cheap to print digital snaps, and frames are always fun.
This $18 TV frame I just found on UrbanOutfitters.com has the added benefit of making your family and friends feel famous. Print out a picture of your choosing and place it in the frame, and you'll be putting them on the small screen in a big way. Just make sure they look good for their telly debut. No one likes a bad picture of themselves. Oh, and don't frame self portraits. That's just tacky. Unless you paid someone to make you look super-sexy (yet tasteful) for your long term other half. Then it's hot.
