New Feature: Common Goods
Flickr has a mission. No, it's not just to let you show the entire world your wedding day keg stand skills, or to give you a glimpse of the planet's cutest kitten, nor to let you display your (impressive yet scarily OCD) lip gloss collection, although it does an excellent job of all of those things. The Flickr folks want to let you in on the treasures of the world's public photography archives. Their pilot partnership program with the Library of Congress in 2006 spurred them into creating The Commons. It's grown into an initiative where they swung the doors open on public photography collections the globe over. You can peruse tons of copyright free photos on any subject for great history lessons. There's gold in the vaults and I'm mining for it. Let's see what we find...
